Breathing Underwater

Hello everyone.

I hope this email finds you in good health, wherever you may be. Here in Leeds the sun is shining and I’m looking forward to getting outside this weekend… I’m a fine BBQ-er these days.

I’m super excited to announce the release of a new song… ‘Breathing Underwater’ on 15th July.

Breathing Underwater Song by Henry Bateman

Dare I say it, this is my favourite song I’ve ever produced (so far). The guts of it was written on my first real day of lockdown in March 2020; that first day when I sat down with an empty diary stretching out in front of me. It really captures that feeling for me, and some of the things I realised about myself in that period of time.

You can really help the ‘release-effort’ by following/subscribing to my profile on Spotify, or your favourite streaming service.

I’ve got some exciting stuff to share with you around release day… but, for now, I’m sharing the artwork (above!). It’s a photograph of an encaustic artwork inspired by the song, by my very own mother… whose work you can find our more about here.

As musicians we get in a very well trodden groove in terms of the other kinds of artistic disciplines we collaborate with… the press shot, the music video. I think it’s interesting to break out of that a little bit. It’s cool that I can can look at a three-dimensional piece of work on my wall which was inspired by this song…

I can’t wait to begin sharing new music with you all.

Henry
