Welcome to the site!

Welcome to my brand new website!

One of the challenges I have been trying to work out is how to sew together all of the different things I spend my time doing with music in a way that makes sense. Although these various things might look quite separate from the outside, my experience is that they’re all rather alike in ways that people might not expect. I think, when you can look at music from above like this, you can draw out some interesting ideas about what it means to be a musician in 2023, as well as what it could mean. Ali & Steph at Appetising Development have done an absolutely wonderful job of realising a solution to that challenge through this website.

This is a space where I can share information about everything I do across music; whether that’s to do with my own songwriting and music, my training as a music therapist, or my work in education. Most excitingly, the website features this blog/forum where I will be able to talk about all of these things. My hope is that this will spark conversation with other like-minded folk, and that we can build up a bit of a community of people who are interested in looking at music across a variety of disciplines; looking at music from above.

By the end of this year, I will be stepping back from social media – and this will become my sole ‘window to the world’. It is so exciting to me to finally have a platform through which I can present music thoughtfully… rather than trying to squeeze into the straight jacket that is social media.

I have lots of plans for this site, including a brand new album which is landing in 2024. You can sign up to my mailing list which will keep you up to date with everything going on through the site (just make sure [email protected] is in your ‘safe-senders’ list!): http://eepurl.com/cX1fLP

Let me know what you make of it in the comments!

Catch you soon,

Henry.

P.s… below is a picture of me with my favourite tree at Sycamore Gap (may she rest in peace).
